I think all these problems that people have with newer cars, is all that crap that's shoved in it, computers for this, computers for that, it's obvious that something is gonna go wrong, bring back the good old carburetor engines, with distributor, and points, at least they ran for years and would out live any newer car, because they had minimal maintenance. My wife called the Ford dealers and she has an appointment on Tues and they asked her to bring it in as Ford have issued yet another recall on specific trannies.Ĭurrently the car warranty only covers the transmission and drive chain, I wonder if it covers the TCM too? If not then it's a cost of nearly $400 + labor to get a new one.
It didn't work, the transmission light is still on.
My wife suddenly couldn't back out of the gas station parking lot earlier and had to ask someone to push the car backward until she was pointing to the exit, no matter how she tried the car will not move in reverse and the orange transmission light is on, but as with all companies that want to feed to money grabbing mechanics, Ford didn't put a transmission fluid dipstick in that model, so I have no idea if it's low or empty, and only a mechanic can check it, (and that's where the mechanic can say, "you need a new tranny, you need this, and that"), someone suggested it's the TCM (Transmission Control Module), so I did a reset (but whether this feature is available on the 2016 Focus, I have no idea), but I tried it anyway, using this procedure:-ġ.Turn key to ignition so that the dash lights up.2.Fully depress gas pedal3.Wait around 30s4.Turn key back to 0, and remove key while the gas pedal is still depressed.5.Release gas pedal.6.Wait 2 minutes, then start the car.
